About the Show
excerpt from Metroland
10.17.2002

What can a bridal gown made of bubble wrap inspire? Answer: Discard Avant Garb, the fashion show featuring designs from local artists made entirely of recycled materials. Now in its third year, Discard Avant Garb features 22 artists this year, including 10 new ones. Also new this year is the inclusion of male artists. The show is the brainchild of organizers Val P. Funk, Helen Martin, Roxanne Storms and Molly Suwara. The first Discard Avant Garb event raised money for a domestic violence shelter. This year's show took place at the Power Company with local poet Mary Panza as emcee, and music by MotherJudge and Thee Ummmm.

Jan, I just read the article on the WORKSPACE show.
I loved the article, particuarily the part suggesting that
Albany has a healthy avant garde scene, which it does.
If you want it, you can find it. I'm really excited to be included
in WORKSPACEdOUT. Thanks to you I have been exposed to new,
weird and bizarre things and ways of looking at them, and the opportunity
to make some art.

thanks Gan!

Roxanne
