"SIT UP RIGHT," say Freund.

"You must put the record straight on its spindle," Dr. Freund, art analyst declared, "Although this weeks mention of WORKSPACEdOUT in Metroland newspapers MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES listing is interesting and timely; it is NOT correct."
"I see," says Galligan. "Right you are."
Although Galligan found the ground-breaking artist collective WORKSPACE in 1976, he did not, as reported in Metroland, "quickly found WORKSPACE."
"It took a little while," says Galligan.
It seems Galligan found WORKSPACE on Central Avenue during an early morning walk around Albany. "Checking to see just where I'd landed," as Galligan puts it having just moved from the midwest. "I found WORKSPACE on the top floor of 11 Central Avenue. HUGE letters in the front window. Walked up, and immediatedly ran into JC Garrett, "the man behind the WORKSPACE curtain" and learned that he'd founded his brainchild six months earlier. Several members were collecting themselves around the loft, Edson, Kelly, Durlak, Luft, and a mad-looking scientist-type J.Frank. They invited me in, offered to host and help me present my multi-media performance - THE MAN, THE MYSTIQUE, which I did, that same night."
The rest, as they say, is part of the history now on display in the gallery of the ALBANY CENTER GALLERIES exhibition - WORKSPACEdOUT, an introspective history: 1976-2006. Opening to the public Tuesday, September 26th.
SPECIAL NOTE: JC GARRETT, founder of WORKSPACE in 1976, will be in Albany starting Thursday, September 28 through October 3. He will be making a personal appearance Friday, Septemer 29 at EVENT TWO, "ART FROM STRANGERS" featuring RICHARD EDSON in Jim Jarmusch's classic "STRANGER THAN PARADISE" and films by DAN DINELLO of Chicago, made with Amy Sedaris, Steve Colbert, and Dan's nephew PAUL DINELLO, director of Comedy Central's STRANGERS WITH CANDY. Dan's films, made in 1998 in conjunction with his nephew Paul will include WHEELS OF FURY and BEYOND THE DOOR - both feature AMY SEDARIS in two hilarious portrayals.
"BE THERE!" counsels Dr. Freund, "Or else I'll need to see you in my office."
